Do You Know About the Watchman On The Wall?

Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
— Ezekiel 3:17-18

The apostle Paul compared himself to a watchman in his day and I feel the same calling in my day. Some of you may be wondering what a watchman’s duty consisted of. A watchman in ancient Israel would stand on a city wall to watch and pay attention to what was going on. If there was an enemy approaching, he would warn the people. His duty or job was to be faithful, not fearful, and consider the safety of the people and the security of the city. If he failed to do that, then the blood of those people would be on his hands. In other words, if the watchman did not warn others, then he would be responsible for what happened to them.

Listen closely to what Paul told the Ephesian elders, "Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God" (Acts 20:26–27.

When you think about it, it’s sort of like what a parent does with a child. The job of a parent is to be a parent, it is not to be a best friend. Be a mom. She needs a mother. Be a dad. He doesn't need a buddy. Sometimes parents must sit children down and say, "Don't do that. It's wrong. I don't want you to do that."

In the same way, as Christians, we need to help each other. We need to be that watchman for someone else. Maybe you are a mature believer who knows some of the dangers out there, and you see a younger believer getting sucked into something harmful. It might be a little awkward, but you say, "Can I just offer a word of advice to you? Be careful in this area. I would hate to see you fall there."  They may or may not like it, but you are being a faithful watchman.

As American Christians, we need to be watchful and warn our nation.  Some pastors/preachers and Christians still have their heads in the sand and refuse to see the spiritual battle going on in politics.  We have been in a spiritual moral decline for several decades but nothing like the past 8 years. I will not be quiet.  I have been and will continue to be very vocal in warning this nation that the enemy is behind much of our decline.  I cry out against the democrat party because of their anti-Christ stand.  Their jubilant support for abortion, homosexual lifestyles, same sex marriage, socialism, racism, ignoring rule of law and snubbing God’s laws are just a few of the many things they are guilty of.  Our nation is crumbling from the inside out because some Christians refuse to see the moral corruption.  Don’t be bashful, warn but with facts. Like the children analogy, they may not like the fact that you said something to them. Or maybe they do. But you are just being a faithful watchman!  God Bless!!
