Can You See The Sign Of The Times?
Here is a very clear translation of what Jesus said in Matthew 16:3 about signs. “You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don't know how to interpret the signs of the times!"
I think Jesus was tell all of us to pay attention to the signs of the times. Our lives are pretty much governed by signs. From the moment we get up in the morning, we are looking at signs. We see them on our computer screens. We see them as we drive around. One such sign is red and features the letters S-T-O-P. And what does that sign mean? For many people, by the way they respond, it means "Keep rolling."
If you are in Arlington, Texas and driving on I 30, you would see a sign that says Six Flags. What does that sign mean? It means "Spend money." In Nevada, you can find a famous sign that says Las Vegas. What does that mean? "Lose money." The list goes on, and so do the signs of the times.
Jesus was the one who coined that phrase, in fact. When the Pharisees and Sadducees approached Him and asked for a sign from Heaven, He told them, "You know the saying, 'Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.' You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don't know how to interpret the signs of the times!" (Matthew 16:2–3).
What was Jesus was saying? Something like,” You know, you are really good about determining whether it is going to rain, but you don't give a single, serious thought about where you will spend eternity." And we have the same kind of people today who ignore the signs of the times.
The Bible gives certain signs of the times that we are told to be looking for that will alert us to the fact that Jesus Christ is coming back again and soon. It’s so sad that Billions of people all over the world are blind to these signs. I see them as clear as day and they get clearer as each day passes. Listen folks, you will want to pay attention to these signs. And we want to live in such a way that we will be pleasing to the Lord as we prepare ourselves for His return. God Bless!
