Coming Soon, “The Rapture”

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
— 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

I’m a long way from being smart but there is one thing I know for sure and that is one day, maybe sooner than any of us expect, every person will enter into eternity. The bad news is, heaven is not going to be the destination for the nonbeliever. Heaven is the hope of every person who has put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When I say hope, I mean the biblical definition “confident expectation”.

If you are a Christian, you will go to heaven and will get there in one of two ways: death or the Rapture.
Whenever someone mentions the word Rapture, there are usually a lot of questions and even more answers, answers that are unbiblical. There are also many critics who like to point out that you won't find the word "rapture" in the Bible. But that is not exactly true. It depends on what kind of Bible you have. If you have a Latin translation, then you have the word rapturous, from which our word "rapture" is derived. And the word rapturous comes from the Greek word harpazÅ, which is mentioned 13 times in the New Testament.

The most well-known verse that refers to the event we call the Rapture is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so shall we ever be with the Lord."

Notice two words in that text, “caught up”. That term, "caught up" is translated from that Greek word harpazÅ which I just mentioned above, means to take forcibly, to snatch, or to catch up. And that is what the Rapture will be.

Imagine yourself going to work one morning when suddenly, in a moment that is so fast, so rapid it can't even be measured in human time, you will be “caught up” into God's presence, and you will be reunited with your loved ones. Best of all, you will be face-to-face with Jesus Himself. One minute you’re driving to work and in the twinkling of an eye you are in the presence of God!

I believe the next great event to take place on God’s end times calendar will be the Rapture of His Church. After we are taken out, God will pour out His wrath on earth for 7 years known as the great tribulation. Christians will be gone because the Bible is clear that we have not been appointed to Gods wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). While the Tribulation is going on here, Christians will appear before the Judgement Seat of Christ where Christians will be rewarded for their faithful service, After the Judgement Seat of Christ there will be a wedding. The groom is Jesus and the bride is the Church. After the Marriage is The Marriage Supper of The Lamb. After the 7 years, we will return with Christ for the 1000-year reign.

This world in which we live is a terrible place and it seems to be getting worse every day. I think that is especially true for us in America. If you are part of my generation, you must admit that we have seen some pretty good days. I’m afraid the good old days are just a thing of the past. I am ready for the rapture and no one in this world can convince me there won’t be a rapture. I’m going to heaven one way or another, death or rapture. My preference would be rapture but I have no say so about that. We may or may not be able to change the direction of the world, but we can change the direction we as individuals are going. Get “Rapture Ready” by living your life fully for the Lord. God Bless!
