Taking the Courageous Step
Remember the game "May I" we played when we were kids? John take one giant step forward and John would have to say May I' or be disqualified. The Lord has called all mankind to take 3 steps forward. Have you answered His call?
The first step is Salvation. This is the first and the most important step a person can take in life. Some people say there are many roads that lead to heaven but God said there was only one, it's called the straight and narrow. Jesus said that He was the way, the truth and the life and that no man could come to God but through Him. So how do we do that?
1. Realize you are a sinner--"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
2. Repent of your sins-"Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
3. Receive Christ as your Savior-"If any man come unto me, I will in no wise cast him out."
Realizing we're sinners shouldn't be hard for any of us to do. Repentance is a Godly sorrow for our sins. Repent means to turn from. We are to turn from our sins and to God. And then Receive Christ by grace through faith. The cornerstone of the gospel is "Jesus died for all our sins," "Was buried," and "was raised on the third day." You must believe that Christ died for your sins, in your place and was raised from the dead. The Bible says that the wages of sin is DEATH. Revelations 20:13-15 tells us that the second death is the lake of fire. That is the judgement for not accepting Christ as Savior. So the price we pay for being a sinner is eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire.
If you know you are a sinner and you are truly sorry and you truly believe that Christ died in your place, for your sin, then ask Him to forgive you and save you. Faith is believing the gospel message, that Christ died for you and believing that He will save you if you receive Him. In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: God be merciful to me a sinner. It was truly from the heart and the man was saved. There is no secret formula or prayer but here is a model that might help you. “Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”
The second step forward is sanctification. When we are saved the Holy Spirit comes abides in us. The Holy Spirit begins a work in us to make us more Christ like. That is a life time process. We are to do our part by being baptized, join a local church, Bible study and more. The Holy Spirit will use these things plus trials and more for spiritual growth. Baptism is the first step of obedience after salvation. It's a picture of what has already happened in your heart. It shows the old man dying and a new man raised to walk in his new life with Christ.
The third step forward is sharing. We should be eager to share our faith with others. We can do this through word and works. By works I mean letting you light shine. The Bible tells us to let our lights shine so that men may see our good works and glorify the Father. Let others see Christ in you and if you're really saved, they can't miss it. They will notice a change, a difference.
If you have never been saved or you don't completely understand salvation, let me know. There is so much I could share and this post is only an outline. SALVATION, SANCTIFICATION AND SHARING! Thank you for reading and God Bless!
