Distorting the Word of God
My answer to a Muslim twisting Scripture:
A friend sent me a private message asking me about some things a Muslim friend of his had challenged him with. The Muslim friend said that Jesus was not God, Jesus was a Muslim, that God is not Triune, that Christianity is not mentioned in the Bible and that Jesus never claimed to be God.
He told my friend that Deuteronomy 18:18 “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.” was prophesying Mohammed.
He said that Isaiah 29:12 "And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, "Read this," he says, "I cannot read." was talking about Mohammed.
He said that John 16:12-14 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” was once again speaking about Mohammed.
Here is what I wrote back. First and foremost, Jesus was not a Muslim, he was a Jew. Mohammed wasn’t mentioned in the Bible once by name for the simple reason Islam didn't exist when Christianity originated. Jesus is the Son of God the Father our Creator and was born of the Virgin Mary and Fathered by the Holy Spirit. God is a Triune God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Three in one just as I am three in one, a father, son, and grandson, three roles in one. Mohammed was not the prophet raised up in the Bible at all. That is completely false.
Christianity is not mentioned in the Bible? Give me a break. Tell your uninformed friend to read Act 11:26, Act 26:28, Romans 16:7, 2 Cor 12:2 and 1 Ptr 4:16 for a start.
Your friend said that Jesus was a Muslim. Look at logically. If Jesus is a Muslim, then all Christian would be Muslim too since being Christian means being the follower of Jesus Christ.
There is no prophesy for Muhammad in the Bible. Examine the Scriptures he used. Deut 18:18 was fulfilled by Jesus Christ in John 1:45, “Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
Isaiah 29:1-29 tells us about the fate of the city of Ariel. Isaiah 29:12 is taken out of context. I can’t believe he is trying to make some faint connection of this verse to Muhammad.
John 16:12-14 is one of the most favorite verses for Muslim since they are very fond to twist its real meaning. The Person Jesus referred to is the Holy Spirit, not Muhammad. Muslims even desperately try to substitute the Greek word to accommodate their false doctrine.
And finally, “Jesus never said He was God.” First. let me point out that Thomas called Jesus his Lord and his God; Paul said that Christ is the visible image of the invisible God; John said that Jesus existed in the beginning with God; Peter said that you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And there are much more Including Isaiah who called Him God. But what did Jesus say about himself? Did he ever identify himself as God? My friends' friend said absolutely not. Well, according to the Bible, He did!
Jesus Said He Existed Before Abraham, Jesus Said to See Him is the Same as Seeing the Father, Jesus Said He Could Forgive Sins, Jesus Said He Is the Judge and Can Grant Eternal Life, Jesus Said He Was the Same as God. Jesus said that He as the Great “I AM”.
Share all the above with your friend and include John 3:16-20 “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
I pray the Lord will open his eyes to the TRUTH. Muslims are like all other false religions and lost people, they have been blinded by the god of this world, the prince and power of the air, Satan! You should reach out to your friend in love and pray for him. I would refrain from arguing, just state facts, historical and biblical. Let me know if I can help. Your friend Abdulrahman is on my prayer list. God Bless!
