My Theology Of Love

Love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
— John 14:23

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.  -Romans 5:5

I build all my theology on love. For if God pours out His love into my heart, and I love Him with that same love, I will obey His commandments. For Jesus says, “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.”

The beauty of a relationship with God is the love that God has placed in us - the most important component of a good relationship. If there is no true love, there is no relationship God desires. For it is only by true love that anyone can obey the commands of God.

A love that does not show but only feels is an unregenerate human love that proves it can overcome nothing. On the other hand, a love that shows itself and that conquers sin for the sake of the one it loves is a true regenerated love that comes from God and overcomes all things through the power of God Himself.

The Lord has poured His love into our hearts through the Spirit, and fills our hearts with His perfect love! Romans 5:5 does not speak of “our” love being poured out into our hearts but God’s love. We must remain in that love if we ever wish to offer God the obedience he desires
