Two thousand years ago the Apostle Paul claimed the day of the Lord was at hand at that time. Paul wrote, “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.”

Just because a person quotes the Bible doesn’t necessarily make them a believer. The devil can quote the Bible! Just because they can quote the Bible doesn’t necessarily make them super spiritual. There are those who are quick to quote the Scriptures to condemn others and many times they are the guiltiest of all.
2 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
I wish I didn’t have to say this, but I want to be honest and make a point. People have done me wrong and then something bad would happen to them and I would think, “They deserve what they’re getting.” Back in 1987 I had a couple of men who did both me and the church harm.
Pay particular attention to verse 31 where it says, "Love your neighbor as yourself," it doesn’t say, "First learn to love yourself, and then love your neighbor." What that verse is saying is that, "It is obvious you already love yourself. Love your neighbor in the same way." It is this love of self, this obsession with self, that gets us into trouble…
